The History of the Mint Julep
Since the early 1700’s southerners have imbibed this sweet tradition. Our signature, made from scratch, Metts Mint Julep is much more palatable than her Kentucky cousin. We start by growing our own mint and blending bourbon and ‘suga water’ till we get it good and right.
As you trolley around Savannah's Historic Landmark District, you'll get glimpse of the history of The Hostess City. Upon arrival at The Metts Mansion, the Metts Mint Juleps flow freely accompanied by delectable hor’ dourves, an entertaining history and a tour of the home. Our hostesses will entertain you and let you in on a few "southern secrets" that will help you survive in the Deep South.
And, as you board the trolley for your return trip, you’ll take home more than just memories. The Mint Julep cup is yours to keep.
